RPTC Officers 2011-2012

The new officers for the Republican Party of Trempealeau County were elected during our County Caucus held in January and the above photo was taken at the Republican Party of Trempealeau and Buffalo Counties' Lincoln Day Dinner held at the Hilltop Ballroom in Fountain City on February 12th. The officers, from left to right are: Angie Sylla- Republican Party of Trempealeau County and 3rd District Treasurer, Kim Low- Republican Party of Trempealeau County Secretary, Maripat Krueger- 3rd District Chair, Valerie Pierzina- Republican Party of Trempealeau County Vice Chair and 3rd District Secretary, and Dave Anderson- Republican Party of Trempealeau County Chair. The officers will serve a two year term through the 2012 election year. The Republican Party of Trempealeau County meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month @ 7:30pm at the Dodge Street Grill in Whitehall and also holds a "Politics & Pints" social event each month at varying Trempealeau County Food & Drink establishments. I support Governor Walker's Budget Repair Bill

I support Governor Walker and the Budget Repair Bill to get Wisconsin fiscally on track.

As to the provisions that increase state employees’ contributions to their health insurance costs, which are overpriced “Cadillac” plans and pensions, which they contribute not a nickel – it’s about time.

Also, to “manage spending reductions through changing some provisions of the state’s collective bargaining laws” is greatly needed. As a former county supervisor I saw first hand that unions had more influence over decisions on managing our county budget than elected officials. It seems union members choose to elect those who will vote them largess from taxpayers and costs to taxpayers spiral out of control. This spending is not sustainable. The present system does not serve our State well and must be changed to better reflect the economic reality of private citizens and our Constitutional government

As to teachers lying about being sick and walking off the job. This teaches children: one, lying and deception are acceptable. Second, political ideology trumps the Constitutional process. Third, powerful unions are more important than “the children”. Shame on you.

WESTERN WISCONSIN REPUBLICAN PARTIES SUPPORT GOV. SCOTT WALKER

The Republican Party of Trempealeau County's Executive Committee, along with neighboring Republican parties of Buffalo, Pepin, Jackson, Clark and Pierce counties find the actions of the 14 Democrat state senators, including Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of the 31st District, cowardly and disrespectful to the democratic process, as well as to the constituents they represent. These 14 elected officials fled the state, rather than do their constitutional duty and vote.

The Republican leadership of western Wisconsin, and, a majority of Americans, support Gov. Scott Walker’s “Budget Repair Bill.” This bill is a necessary action to balance the budget of Wisconsin’s current 3.6 billion-dollar deficit, and to lessen the burden on taxpayers during this economic crisis. The bill also reasserts the power of local governance in collective bargaining.

When an overwhelming majority of Republicans in Congress (as well as American citizens) opposed nationalizing health care, Republican representatives and senators still did their constitutional duty and showed up to debate and vote on the bill. With its unpopular passage, Americans were merely told that “elections have consequences.” Indeed they do. The citizens of Wisconsin overwhelmingly voted for a Republican majority last November and they deserve to be represented. The Republican governor and legislature should be allowed to govern as the citizens of Wisconsin have duly elected them to do, without impedance through political desertion. We support the disciplinary remedies as voted on and discussed by the legislature to reprimand the wayward representatives. We call for the 14 Democrat senators to respect the representative process and return to the Capitol immediately to debate the issues and to cast their votes.

"Union" Protest

The scene in Madison today with hundreds of schoolchildren pouring into the Capital with pre-made union signs, protesting Scott Walker's Budget Repair Bill. How sweet. Our public education system (and our tax dollars) at work. Do you know where your children are? How do Unions feel about Child Labor anyway?

The Unions are melting down due mainly to these 4 points outlined in the proposed Budget:

• Collective bargaining to only be allowed for base pay.
• Union dues not to be collected by the state.
• Annual Secret ballots to keep unions certified.
• UNION DUES TO BECOME VOLUNTARY.

It's about time that unions entered the real world, don't you think? This debate is long overdue and we must affirm to Scott Walker we support the strong stand he is taking and recognize the tough decisions he is faced with. Thank Scott today! (608) 266-1212 or govgeneral@wisconsin.gov

CAUCUS REMINDER!

Our County Caucus will be held this Saturday, January 22nd at the Ashley Furniture Homestore Community Room in Arcadia. The Caucus will start promptly at 12:00 pm with plans to finish by 6:00pm. Refreshments will be served. Lunch and menu items are also available at The Pub restaurant within the Ashley Homestore.

The County Caucus will involve the business of the Republican Party of Trempealeau County and preparation for the 3rd District Caucus. This is also an officer election year for the RPTC Executive Committee. The current Executive Committee members are Dave Anderson (Chair), Dave Vind (Vice Chair), Kim Low (Secretary), and Valerie Pierzina (Treasurer). The election of new officers will be held at the County Caucus.

Submission and adoption of County Resolutions will also take place. Please have any Resolutions ready to submit. Additionally, 2 persons will be appointed to participate on the Resolutions, Rules, and Credentials Committees for the District Pre-Caucus and District Caucus held in March (tentative dates are March 12th and 26th respectively). Please consider submitting your name for one of these committees. Finally, the revisions of Constitution of the Republican Party of Trempealeau County will be presented and voted on acceptance. The final draft will then be submitted to the Republican Party of Wisconsin for approval.

It is vitally important that we have good attendance at our County Caucus so that Trempealeau County will have a strong representation at both the District Caucus and at the State Convention. In order to become a Delegate or Alternate for District and State, it is strongly recommended that you attend the County Caucus for consideration. All members in good standing are encouraged to submit their names for this privilege. Delegates and Alternates must be voted on at the County Caucus and subsequently submitted to the 3rd District Chair by March 1st for approval.
