Congratulations to all the victorious Republicans in Wisconsin, including Scott Walker for Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch Lt. Governor, JB Van Hollen Attorney General, Kurt Schuller for Treasurer, Ron Johnson for United States Senate, and various other races around the state outside of our District. Thanks also to our Republican candidates that gave a valiant effort but came up just short, including Dan Kapanke for Congress, Ed Thompson for State Senate, Bill Ingram for Assembly, David King for Secretary of State, and Angie Sylla for Clerk of Courts.

The conservative movement showed its strength this election, with sweeping victories across the nation, leading to Republican gains of historic proportions in the House. Additionally, Wisconsin is the state that arguably made the biggest political shift in the nation, being the only state where Democrats lost the office of Governor, a US Senate seat,
and an entire state legislature. However, even though Republicans turned out in Trempealeau County and we probably had our best conservative showing in years, Trempealeau County remains a Democrat stronghold. Sure there are glimmers of hope as the margins are closer than normal and there were actually two Republican victories in our county with the very popular JB Van Hollen easily winning our county and Ron Johnson who won our county by the slimmest of margins. What is it about Trempealeau County, and the entire 3rd District to some degree, that prevents it from recognizing we really are conservative here? We are self-reliant hard-workers who cherish faith and family. We are simply not liberal! Yet, Trempealeau County is as consistent a shoe-in for Democrats as San Francisco and New York City! It isn't as though we have conservative blue-dog Democrats winning here either; we have Ron Kind who has a voting record matching that of Nancy Pelosi 94% of the time. Yet, Ron Kind skated to an easy victory in Trempealeau County. I am pleased and hopeful with the outcome of the election as a whole, but I am perplexed and disappointed with the returns in my county. If anything points out the disconnect in our county, it is the overwhelming victory of the conservative Transportation Fund referendum, a referendum written due to
Democrat abuse of these appropriated funds. Had the "No" vote on this Referendum had a (D) behind it, it likely would not have passed in Trempealeau County, as they are
that entrenched here. Without a a doubt, Trempealeau County holds common sense, conservative values. Apparently voters here just don't realize what political party represents those values. There is much work that needs to be done in our county and 2012 is not too far away. With a Republican Governor and legislature, along with our continued efforts as a county party, residents will hopefully come to recognize what conservatism really is, what Republicans actually stand for, and that Democrats are not what they claim to be. The fight goes on.

Our County Caucus will be held this Saturday, January 22nd at the Ashley Furniture Homestore Community Room in Arcadia. The Caucus will start promptly at 12:00 pm with plans to finish by 6:00pm. Refreshments will be served. Lunch and menu items are also available at The Pub restaurant within the Ashley Homestore.
In sincere appreciation for Angeline Sylla's 22 years of service as the Trempealeau County Clerk of Court, there will be an Open House for all to express gratitude on Friday, December 17th, 2010, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm in the North Courtroom on the 2nd Floor of the Trempealeau County Courthouse in Whitehall, Wisconsin. The Republican Party of Trempealeau County will be hosting our annual Christmas Party the evening of Saturday, December 18th, at Arctic Springs in Galesville.
