CALL TO CAUCUS!!

Our County Caucus will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Ashley Furniture Homestore Community Room in Arcadia. This event will take place in lieu of our regularly scheduled February meeting. The Caucus will start promptly at 1:00 pm with plans to finish by 4:00 pm. Refreshments will be served. Lunch and menu items will be available at The Pub restaurant within the Ashley Homestore.

The County Caucus will involve the business of the Republican Party of Trempealeau County and preparation for the 3rd District Caucus. It is vitally important that we have good attendance at our County Caucus so that Trempealeau County will have a strong representation at both the District Caucus (which will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Plaza Hotel in Eau Claire) and at the State Convention (which will run from May 21- 23, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee). In order to become a Delegate or Alternate for District and State, it is strongly recommended that you attend the County Caucus for consideration. All members in good standing are encouraged to submit their names for this privilege. This year, Delegates and Alternates must be voted on at the County Caucus and submitted to the District Chair by March 1st for approval.

This promises to be an exciting year for Republicans as we look towards the 2010 Elections! And, we expect that you are just as engaged and enraged as we are with the current leadership! Please answer your call to caucus and join us as we do our part from Trempealeau County to take our country back! See you on February 6!

Politics & Pints: Come one, Come all!

Last weekend, the Republican Party of Trempealeau County kicked-off of our brand new group, "Politics & Pints," at the Jailhouse Saloon in Centerville. It proved to be a very fun evening with good times had by all. This new group was created to be a casual and easy-going alternative to our regular monthly meetings. "Politics & Pints" is simply an informal social gathering where people come to talk politics over beer and a pizza. There is absolutely no set agenda, so you never know where the evening will take you or what solutions to the world's problems you will uncover after an evening of discussion! Meet with friends, new and old, vent your political frustrations, express ideas, and hang out in an environment where it is not taboo to talk politics. The location for each get-together will change from month to month, covering many of the fine towns and numerous eating & drinking establishments that Trempealeau County has to offer! (Needless to say, it should be quite some time before we are required to repeat a venue)! This is a wonderful networking opportunity and a great way to meet like-minded individuals. Even though it often feels like it, you are not the only Conservative in Trempealeau County! Come meet some more! Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Barrett Mirrors Doyle's Pro-Abortion Position
Pro-abortion Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has thrown his hat into the ring as a Democratic candidate for Governor of Wisconsin for the November 2, 2010 election. After enduring eight long years of consistently anti-life actions by retiring Governor Jim Doyle, right-to-life citizens long for change. They won’t find it in Tom Barrett. Viewed as a “nice guy,” Barrett is as nasty as Doyle when it comes to abortion. Barrett compiled a lengthy hard-core pro-abortion voting record when he served in the State Assembly, State Senate and House of Representatives.

Barrett State Legislative Record Highlights (1984 – 1992)

• Voted in favor of taxpayer funding of abortion referrals.
• Voted against protecting the unborn child of a pregnant woman on life supports.
• Voted against the right-to-life position on 53 out of 55 votes.

Barrett Congressional Legislative Highlights (1992 – 2004)

• Voted against the Child Custody Protection Act which would have made it a federal crime to take a minor across state lines to have an abortion to keep the abortion secret from her parents.
• Voted against a ban on performing abortions at military hospitals.
• Voted against the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, a federal law which allows prosecutors to charge a third party for death or injury to an unborn child.
• Voted against a ban on human cloning.
• Voted against the Mexico City Policy which prohibits the use of federal funds to promote or perform abortions overseas.
• Voted for taxpayer funding of abortions for federal employees.
• Voted against banning partial-birth abortions (2002 bill).

As Governor, Tom Barrett would mean business as usual and a continuation of Doyle’s anti-life legacy. This year, Wisconsin Right to Life will be engaged in a major mission to dispel the “nice guy” image Barrett has created and expose his ruthless record to ensure that unborn babies are unprotected and can continue to be killed.

Feingold Undecided on Health Care Bill by Deloras Vind

We, the people, still have a voice on the Senate Health Care Bill and Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold is [surprisingly] a key vote in the measure. According to The Hill Senator Russ Feingold "has not made a final decision on the bill and is waiting for the Congressional Budget Office score." The article in The Hill goes on to say that "away from the Senate chamber, prominent liberals were angry." Senator Russ Feingold is certainly a prominent liberal! This Health Care bill still has a chance to be defeated! We need to make our voices heard! Tell it everywhere!! Call Senator Feingold and tell him to listen to the American people and his Wisconsin constituents and vote NO to Obamacare! Kill the Bill!

Palin at Mall of America by Diane Reid

Deloras Vind, and myself, Diane Reid, of the Republican Party of Trempealeau County, arrived at the Mall of America for the Sarah Palin, "Going Rogue" book signing at 4:30 am. We were in line outside the Mall by 5:00 am. We were approximately number 520 and 521. We thankfully got into the warmth of the Mall shorty after 6 o'clock and finally got wristbands after 7 o'clock.

Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, were all smiles, ebullient, charming and happy to see every face that came by the table. Lots of people were equally bubbly and looked thrilled to meet them. Up close, Gov. Palin exudes a radiant grace! No other way to describe it. She and Todd looked refreshed. She is better looking in person and I didn't think it was possible. She glowed, she was friendly and engaging to each person and laughed a lot with each person.
I got my book signed by 1:00 pm. The crowd was friendly, polite and enthusiastic for the opportunity. I must give a special thanks to the Mall of America staff for the way they organized this event. Logistics were smooth all around. They even handed out free bottled water around 9:00 am when most people were in line, waiting. They handed out the water and then came back with trash bags to collect the trash. The whole MOA staff were courteous, ready to answer any question and they all had smiles on their faces, even the security staff. I had no idea that some jerk threw tomatoes during the event. I did not see it happen. I am glad I went and had a great time!
